FINE ART CANVAS (GICLÉE)
We print fine art canvas on Breathing Color Lyve canvas. This is the best canvas available. It has the look and feel of traditional artist’s canvas, made with 100% cotton and no OBAs (Optical Brightener Additives). OBAs make the canvas look whiter by reflecting UV light in the visible spectrum, creating a higher perceived brightness. While OBAs appear to whiten the canvas, they can cause the color to yellow over time as the OBA level decreases. A non OBA canvas has a much longer life without fading. It is 19 MIL, 450 GSM weight with a brightness of 97%.
Printer & Inks - We print our fine art canvas using an Epson P20000 printer using the UltraChrome Pro 10 color inkset. The 4 levels of black allow it to produce exceptional shadow detail and perfectly neutral B&W with a black that is 1.5 times as dense as the previous generation. Color inks have a life of up to 200 years and B&W inks up to 400 years according to Wilhelm Research.
Protective Spray - We highly recommend your fine art canvas be finished with a protective spray. This extends the life of the print and protects it from damage. An unprotected canvas is much more susceptible to damage by moisture and UV light. We offer protective spray coating in gloss, satin, and matte. The choice of sheen will affect the dynamic range of the finished piece. Gloss images have a richer black and higher dynamic range, but can glare if strong light strikes them at sharp angles.
WALL DECOR CANVAS
Wall Décor Canvas is a good choice for when you want a quality canvas at an affordable price. It is a bright white canvas with a satin finish made with a 65% polyester, 35% cotton blend. It is 17 mil, 370 g/m2 weight with a brightness of 94%.
Printer & Inks - We print our wall decor canvas using HP Latex printer
Protective Spray - We print our wall derThis canvas/ink combination does not require a protective coating, but one can be added if desired for a finish other than satin. It is available in matte, gloss, &textured.
Stretching - Both types of canvas prints can be purchased on the roll or stretched to be framed or ready to hang as "gallery wraps" on .75”, 1.5", or 2" stretcher bars. The sides of the gallery wrap can be finished using 3 different techniques.
1. Mirror – We take the image at the edge of the canvas, copy it, and use that image for the sides. This works very well in most situations. Do not use this if there is a face or some other object that would look unnatural if it were mirrored at the edge.
2. Image Overflow – The image is actually wrapped around the edge. This is a good choice if you have lots of additional image around the main subject so that it will not crop into it.
3. Border Color – If neither of the above methods seem appropriate we can put a solid border around. This can be black, white, or a color. If you click on the down arrow in the box you will get a pop-up with a color chart to choose from. The preview on the left will show you how that looks.
